"A" is for Apple

Discussing a favorite fall crop during October's Read & Seed, the Pre-K and preschool students at Wilmington ChildCare & Learning Center learned about Johnny Appleseed and how the delicious fruit grows.

Students read the books Johnny Appleseed by Maddi Olsen and Little Mouse and the Big Red Apple by A.H. Benjamin and Gwyenth Williamson.

The students were also challenged to discuss how apples grow and created the stages of an apple tree to show that they understood the plant's lifecycle. Finally, the student's favorite part, they had the chance to make a snack and taste apples. The students made Apple Pie Dip which is simple to make and allowed the students to assist in the cooking process.
