Family Fun Health & Fitness Night Honored

Grow Food, Grow Hope and the Wilmington College Health & Wellness Committee are very proud of the successful Family Fun Health & Fitness Night which was honored by the Clinton County Family & Children First Council with the “Steppin’ Up Award.”

Children made "Egg Head" snacks out of healthy ingredients
The Clinton County Family & Children First Council works in collaboration with other organizations “to provide quality support services for the well-being of children and families.”  Grow Food, Grow Hope plans to continue hosting community events that encourage children and families to maintain their own health and wellness through gardening and healthy eating and to continue to support the mission of the CCFCFC.

Children were invited to plant seeds to take home and grow.
Family Fun Health & Fitness Night included a myriad of activities from face painting and parachute play to “Fun with Food” and seed planting activities.  Each station provided attendees an activity or learning experience including the “Sugar Factory” where participants learned about the sugar content in their food choices and soccer lessons by Wilmington College Soccer Coach, Bud Lewis.

Children ran fun soccer drills with the assistance
of Bud Lewis, Wilmington College Soccer Coach.

Participants took part in the "Sugar Factory"

Grow Food, Grow Hope plans to continue to encourage healthy eating and wellness during National Nutrition Month with a Read & Seed about container gardening this Saturday at the Center for Service & Civic Engagement at Wilmington College beginning at 11am.  We hope to see you there!
