Pumpkin Run 5K

Saturday, October 22nd, 2011

Help Grow Food, Grow Hope raise money for our community gardens! The Pumpkin Run/Walk will be the first of hopefully many fall 5Ks hosted by GFGH, but we would like to invite you to be a part of making the first one a success.

The run/walk will begin at the Friends of Hope Community Garden at Wilmington College. Sign-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the run/walk will begin at 9:30. Participants of all ages are welcome to attend.

Children 2 to 12 can hang out (supervised) at the mobile garden area while parents take part in the run/walk. There will be crafts, a puppet show, and face painting for the kids. Children 13 and older are permitted to take part in the run if they choose, provided a parent or guardian is participating with them. Dogs are also welcome to run with their owners as long as they are on a leash.

All pre-registered participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt with the Pumpkin Run logo on it and all participants will leave with a free pumpkin or a voucher to use at a local pumpkin farm, just in time for carving and holiday baking.

This is not a costumed event, but participants are welcome to dress up for the run/walk. The three best costumes will be featured in the November GFGH Newsletter and here on the website.

There will be lots of fall-themed snacks available before and after the event as well as bottled water and cider.

The pre-registration cost is $20 per person and $15 for students 13 and older.

On the day of even the price is $25 per person and $20 for students 13 and older.
