There are endless ways to turn old containers into useful growing spaces. At this workshop, you can explore container gardening options and receive advice on how to turn empty spaces into an efficient growing environment.

Beneficial Bugs and Pests

Learn to decipher whether the insect in your garden is causing harm or playing a positive role. Basic insect identification will be discussed as well as how to attract beneficial insects, prevent the bad ones from coming in the first place, and what to do once they are causing harm to your garden.

Permaculture Practices

Permaculture is the use of sustainable methods of farming, modeled after natural ecosystems, that are largely or fully self-maintaining. Barbara Utendorf grew up on a farm using these methods that were passed down through the generations, and Barbara actively uses these methods on her land today, plus has added a few new techniques!  Come learn about practices that can benefit the Earth and your garden or farm, from a life-long Permaculturist!

Natural Building Workshop

Presenters: Mike and Kym Prell 
This workshop will be in partnership with Peaceful Acres Lavender Farm, as we will be helping the farm put finishing touches on their earthship while learning about natural building methods simultaneously! Anyone looking to gain experience in natural construction should come to learn a variety of techniques including building a retaining wall with glass recyclables, learning to sculpt with glass bottles and cob, creating light fixtures and artsy additions, plus much more. This workshop will be hands on, so come prepared to work and come away with ideas and experience for your home!
